Types of Braces

The team at Dunn & Schreiber Orthodontics knows that—just as each patient is different—each smile is different. As such, we offer a variety of teeth-straightening orthodontic treatments, including: metal braces, ceramic braces, and Invisalign. Each of these options provides unique advantages, and our orthodontists are happy to help you decide which one is the right fit  for you!

Metal braces are the most traditional type of orthodontic treatment prescribed by an orthodontist. These self-ligating braces are made of high-grade stainless steel. However, note that today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive than ever before—thus making them an even more appealing option.

Unlike metal braces, ceramic braces use brackets that are made of a translucent (clear) material. These braces move teeth just as efficiently as metal braces. The main difference between the two is that the brackets are much less noticeable. As a result of their cosmetic appeal, ceramic braces are very popular with adult patients. Note, we use self-ligating braces to prevent discoloration that might otherwise occur with ceramic braces.

If wires and brackets aren't for you, consider Invisalign. Invisalign is a series of clear  templates (called aligners) that fit over your teeth sort of like a mouth guard. The aligners are generated by a computer, which designs them to gradually move your teeth into the correct position. Invisalign aligners are removable, comfortable, and barely visible, making Invisalign a popular option for many adult patients. Click here to learn more.
